Do you live or study in Westminster? The City of Westminster are proposing to licence all private rented properties in 15 wards in Westminster and want your views. If implemented, this will cover all privately rented properties not already covered by our existing HMO licensing schemes (over 44,000 properties). The public consultation will run until 19th January 2025.

Westminster wants to:

Create a fairer private rented sector

Improve housing conditions in the private rented sector by eliminating poor property standards

Improve property management standards and compliance rates

Reduce ASB and repeat ASB incidents

Increase tenant awareness of their rights and minimum standards to be expected; recognising that poor housing standards can have a major impact on health and wellbeing

Improve engagement between the council and reputable private sector landlords
