Essential Housing Law for Student Advisors – Tuesday 6th & 7th February 2024 - Online

This popular two-day course is suitable for:

  • new housing advisors with little or no experience of landlord/tenant law,
  • established advisors who wish to review and update existing knowledge, and
  • more experienced generic advisors who are keen to develop expertise in this aspect of housing law.

The course is primarily aimed at members of University and student union staff who as part of their day-to-day remit, give housing advice to students living, or about to live, in private rented housing.  Student sabbatical officers and others that offer housing advice to private tenants may also find the course beneficial.

This interactive course will be held over Zoom, and primarily presented by Anthony Gold Solicitors who are leading experts in Housing Law. We are also pleased to welcome guest speakers from the Tenancy Deposit Scheme Adjudication Services, and Westminster Council. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.

The course will cover a number of issues relating to landlord and tenant law including different types of letting contracts, disrepair, deposit protection, houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) and rules on ending tenancies including the s21 Procedure. The course will also include details on the Tenant Fees Act 2019 and the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.
