Housing Fair 2026 - Save the Date!

Housing Fair 2026 - Thursday 5th March

The University's annual Housing Fair will take place on Thursday 05th March from 11am - 3pm . As usual, the event is being held at Senate House, in the heart of Bloomsbury.

The Housing Fair is a perfect opportunity for students to kickstart their accommodation search for the next academic year, with exhibitors from London's leading private halls, letting agents and other housing providers as well as other student focused services.

You do not need to book a place to attend, you will just need to provide proof of your student status on the day - so remember to bring your student ID! In order to attend the Housing Fair, you need to be studying a course at a University of London member institution (excluding Queen Mary), or at one of our external subscribing colleges. Essential Housing Law Training - February & March 2026

University of London Essential Housing Law Trainings 2025-26

Essential Housing Law for Student Advisors - Updated for the Renters' Rights Act
Tuesday 24th & Wednesday 25th February 2026 - Online

This popular and recently updated two-day course is suitable for:

new housing advisors with little or no experience of landlord/tenant law,
established advisors who wish to review and update existing knowledge in light of the Renters' Rights Act 2025, and
more experienced generic advisors who are keen to develop expertise in this aspect of housing law.

The course is primarily aimed at members of University and student union staff who as part of their day-to-day remit, give housing advice to students living, or about to live, in private rented housing. Student sabbatical officers and others that offer housing advice to private tenants may also find the course beneficial.

This interactive course will be held over Zoom, and primarily presented by Anthony Gold Solicitors who are leading experts in Housing Law, as well as staff working in housing advice at the University of London. We are also pleased to welcome guest speakers from the Tenancy Deposit Scheme Adjudication Services.

The course will cover a number of issues relating to landlord and tenant law including different types of letting contracts and information on new agreements post-Renters' Rights Act, disrepair, deposit protection, houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) and rules on ending tenancies including the new Ground 4A process for student tenancies.

Essential Housing Law for Student Accommodation Managers - Updated for Renters' Rights Act

Tuesday 24th & Wednesday 25th March 2026 - Online

This course, recently updated in light of the Renters' Rights Act, is aimed at those managing or working in student halls, whether they are operated by universities or private providers. The course is suitable for new members of staff as well as those who are more experienced and looking to further develop and/or update their legal knowledge, particularly with regard to the upcoming changes to the law.

The aim of the course is to give an overview of the legal issues affecting providers of student accommodation. We will cover housing law issues such as issuing the appropriate types of agreement (licenses vs tenancies) as well as the new tenancy regime under the Renters' Rights Act, legal and health and safety and fire safety obligations, fees and disciplinary penalty charges, legal issues with short-term lets and non-student occupiers. We will also cover Equality Act obligations, GDPR and Data Protection. There will be a session on the transitional arrangements for PBSAs and recovering possession after the Renters' Rights Act comes in to force.

The two-day course will primarily be presented by Anthony Gold solicitors over Zoom, with contribution from staff at the University of London. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Demand for places on this course has previously been high so we would advise you to book to avoid disappointment. We will be offering an Early Bird price of £255 (excluding VAT) which will end on Monday 26th January 2026 . Thereafter, the cost of the course shall be £275 (excluding VAT) .

Housing Service closure - 23rd December 2025 until 5th January 2026

The University of London Housing Service will be closed from 1pm on Tuesday 23rd December 2025, until 10am on Monday 5th January 2026.

We will not be able to respond to any enquiries during this time.

The service will be remote-only on 22nd December with the office will reopening on Monday 5th January for in-person enquiries and pre-booked appointments.

Housing Fair 2025 - Thursday 20th March

The University's annual Housing Fair will take place on Thursday 20th March from 11am - 3pm . The Fair is taking place earlier than in previous years in order to avoid exam periods, so that more students can take advantage of the event.

Westminster Council Licensing Consultation - Have your say!

Do you live or study in Westminster? The City of Westminster are proposing to licence all private rented properties in 15 wards in Westminster and want your views. If implemented, this will cover all privately rented properties not already covered by our existing HMO licensing schemes (over 44,000 properties). The public consultation will run until 19th January 2025 .

Due to this, our office and the entire Senate House building (including Senate House Library and Bloom Café) will be closed.
